The Apple Cider Players of Woodcliff Lake Inc. (hereafter listed as “The Players”) was established to create a permanent theater group for those interested in the dramatic arts, through acting, singing, dancing and the dramatic arts. In addition, the theater group was formed for the purpose of giving residents of Woodcliff Lake and the surrounding communities the opportunity to see and participate in live theater at a reasonable cost.  The Players were incorporated as a NJ 5013 (C) non-profit corporation in 2003.

Each year The Players has tried to grow by offering diverse programs utilizing the many talents from different communities. The Players first performance in 2003 was "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown", which featured a small cast. The Players followed this by "History Time Henry", a captivating children's program and then "Spotlight Night", a night of Broadway song and dance with performances by our talented and dedicated adults and children of all ages.

In 2005 "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” was performed to standing room only audiences. At this time The Players decided to add another aspect to the performances and presented the first non-musical play from A.R. Gurney - "Sylvia", a comedy in 2006. For a promotion, since Sylvia is about a dog (played by a human), The Players decided to produce a calendar and auditioned dogs (all communities came out with their beloved pets) for dog of the month.  The Players were quite surprised when 72 dogs showed up to be photographed.  The Players also raffled off 2 prizes which were donated by local veterinarians. A donation was given to Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, Inc to help abused animals. That same year The Players big musical was "Fiddler on the Roof", followed by the Neil Simon comedy "Rumors" and then in May 2008  "Annie".  Then in 2010, Oliver! was performed!

What makes The Players different from most Community theaters is that they bring in directors and choreographers that are up and coming professionals who may receive a small stipend.
